After completing her degree in Sociology at COC, Professor Martin Aguilar graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology from UCLA. She then went on to complete her master's degree at CSUN. Currently, she teaches at multiple colleges and universities across LA county and hopes to continue teaching for years to come. She is excited to give back to COC and work with a new genration of students.

Julie's interests in sociology are in deviance, motherhood, gender, crime, pregnancy, and medicine and healthcare. Her research focuses on pregnancy, birth, and postpartum especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She hopes to expand to further research in motherhood, including gender and social roles and norms surrounding motherhood.

Outside of the classroom, Julie is with family including her husband and daughter and their two pups. The family loves to take walks by the ocean and make memories with our little girl.
