Ricardo Perez

Ricardo "Richy" Perez Jr. (pronouns: He, His, Him) is a first-generation Mexican-American Sociology graduate. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 2019 and a Master's in Sociology in 2022, both from CSUN.

Richy's research interests include anti-oppressive, mixed methods approaches to trans-disciplinary research and social theory, including Cultural Sociology, Globalization, Inequality/Stratification, Urban Sociology, and Social Movements.

Outside of academia, he participates in PAC Solidarity. A grassroots, community-based organization empowering marginalized people in underserved communities by providing proactive mutual aid and direct-action mobilization efforts against barriers placed by systemic inequalities.

Currently, Richy is a part-time Recreational Therapist at Southern California Hospital in Van Nuys where he helps vulnerable community members experiencing mental health crises cope and recover from a range of mental health issues.  Fun fact: Richy is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, an artist, and is currently writing and illustrating a graphic novel called "Allies" in his spare time.
