Math 060/070
To enroll in Math 060/070, you need to complete an orientation specific to the PAL program.  Visit the distance learning webpage and click on the PAL link http://www.canyons.edu/offices/distance_learning/.  Please complete the PAL orientation a few days before your enrollment time slot.

Plan on spending 30 hours a week (inside and outside of class).  The first 8 weeks is Math 060 and the second 8 weeks is Math 070.  If you do not pass Math 060 with a C or better, you will be dropped from Math 070.

There is a new book for Math 060 starting Fall 2014.  The new book is Beginning and Intermediate Algebra by Hall and Mercer.  3rd Edition.  The publisher is McGraw Hill and the ISBN is 978-0-07-338424-5.  The cover of the book is a picture of Utah’s Arches National Park.  The bookstore is likely to offer this book as a rental.  Please see COC’s bookstore for details.  If yoiu are going to order the book from an outside source, do so close to 3 weeks before the first day of class.

Enrolled students must access Blackboard for my course materials throughout the semester.

This is our statistics path algebra class.  This course is not meant for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), nursing, business, kinesiology, or MLT (medical lab technician) students.    Majors or programs requiring specific biology and chemistry classes whose pre-requisite is either Math 060 or Math 070 should take the traditional algebra path.

The book used in Math 075 is a free online book.  An emphasis will be placed on communication, collaboration, and critical thinking within the growth mindset environment.  You will be working with data sets and technology as you are introduced to the algebra used in Statistics.

Enrolled students must access Blackboard for my course materials throughout the semester.
