PHOTOGRAPHY

PHOTO 090L OPEN PHOTOGRAPHY LAB

Units: 1.00-2.00, May Be Taken 4 Times

An open lab for the currently enrolled photography student who wishes to increase skills through the use of the photography lab facility. Note: Open lab is a variable-unit course. The student must complete a minimum of 50 hours per semester to earn one unit of credit. Open lab is not a required course for any certificate or degree in the Photography program. If open lab is scheduled 'to be announced' it is the student's responsibility to sign-in and out when completing lab hours. Open lab hours must be accrued at a time separate from any other class in which the student is also registered. Units do not apply to the associate degree.

PHOTO 091L ADVANCED OPEN PHOTOGRAPHY LAB

Units: 1.00, May Be Taken 4 Times

Prerequisite: PHOTO-160

An open lab for the currently enrolled advanced photography student who wishes to increase skills through the use of the photography lab facility. The student must complete a minimum of 50 hours per semester to earn one unit of credit. If open lab is scheduled 'to be announced' it is the student's responsibility to sign in and out when completing lab hours. Open lab hours must be accrued at a time separate from any other class in which the student is also registered. Units do not apply to the associate degree and offered credit/no-credit only

PHOTO 098F PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKSHOPS

Units: 1.00, May Be Taken 4 Times

A short-term class to learn camera control and special techniques to photograph urban and natural landscapes. Travel to and photographically explore various Southern California locations. Beginners and advanced students welcome. It is recommended that students provide a digital or 35mm film camera capable of full manual adjustment.Offered credit/no-credit only.

PHOTO 140 HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Units: 3.00 - UC:CSU, May Be Taken Once for Credit

History and appreciation of photography from 19th century to present; relationship with history, culture, technology, art, social values, and other concerns.

PHOTO 150 INTRODUCTION TO CAMERAS AND COMPOSITION

Units: 3.00 - UC:CSU, May Be Taken Once for Credit

Explores how artistic and mechanical principles are used to record photographic images. Students review photographic works that include major influences in the photographic world and relate broader artistic and societal issues. Provides introductory information applicable to digital or film cameras, lenses, exposure, and concept development. No laboratory. It is recommended that students provide a digital or 35 MM film SLR camera capable of manual exposure adjustment. UC credit limitation: PHOTO-150 and 160 combined, maximum credit one course.

PHOTO 155 PHOTOGRAPHY

Units: 3.00 - CSU, May Be Taken Once for Credit

Introduces the fundamental concepts, terminology, and techniques of photography, including the theory and basic principles of image correction and print technologies. Note: It is recommended that students provide a digital SLR camera capable of manual exposure adjustment.

PHOTO 160 BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY

Units: 3.00 - UC:CSU, May Be Taken Once for Credit CAN ART 18

A beginning course in 35 mm black and white photography integrating both mechanical and artistic principles to record photographic images. The student must furnish a fully manual/adjustable 35mm SLR camera. NOTE: to access facilities outside of class time, students must register for PHOTO-090L, Open Photo Lab. $25 materials fee - or students may purchase their own photographic chemicals. UC credit limitation: PHOTO-150 and 160 combined, maximum credit one course.

PHOTO 195 COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY

Units: 3.00 - CSU, May Be Taken 4 Times

Prerequisite: PHOTO-160

Studies in the theory of light and color in photography and its relationship to exposure and color printing type R. Color printing techniques and basic quality control are studied and practiced. Offers further training in technical, aesthetic and historical issues that surround photography. Students must furnish a fully manual/adjustable 35mm camera. NOTE: To access the photography facilities outside of scheduled class time, students must register for PHOTO-090L. $50 materials fee - or students may purchase their own photography chemicals for this course

PHOTO 210 WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Units: 3.00 - CSU, May Be Taken 4 Times

Prerequisite: PHOTO-155 or PHOTO-160

Introduces essential photographic and business skills required by a wedding photographer. It is recommended that students provide a 35 MM or Medium format film or digital SLR camera capable of manual exposure adjustment. NOTE: to access the photography facilities outside of scheduled class time, students must register for PHOTO-090L, Open Photo Lab. $25 materials fee, or student may purchase their own photography chemicals, for this course
