Gil Garcetti is well known
for his tenure as the elected District Attorney for Los
Angeles, but this recognition is now eclipsed by his
reputation as a gifted photographer. He has produced
five beautiful books that chronicle his work: Iron: Erecting the Walt Disnery Concert Hall was
Mr. Garcetti's first book and emphasizes the
contribution of the ironworkers to the building of
America, while documenting the beauty of the curved,
angled and bent raw steel of this building before being
covered by the exterior skin. Frozen Music, the
second book, is his interpretation of the abstract art
created by the finished building. Dance in Cuba
is Mr. Garcetti's third book of black and white photos
showing the extraordinary spirit of the Cuban people
through their dance. Photos from this book have been
exhibited at the United National in New York City.
Water is Key is about safe water, health and the
empowerment of women in West Africa.
