5-13-13 College of the Canyons Crowned State Champions

CARMEL, Calif.
- The College of the Canyons men's golf team sat five strokes out of the lead after the first 18 holes of the California Community College Athletic Associations Men's Golf State Championship on Monday afternoon, but surged back in the second round to win the state tournament by three strokes, claiming its sixth state championship in the program’s 41st year. The Cougars turned in a second round of 367, to complete the par-71, 6,357-yard Rancho Canada course with a 13-over-par 723 (356-367).

- The College of the Canyons men's golf team sat in third place with a 372 after one round at the California Community College Athletic Association's Southern California Men's Golf Championship on Monday afternoon, but came back in the second round and carded a 361 to finish in second place and earn a spot in next weeks's state championship.

The College of the Canyons men’s golf team closed out the regular season on Monday afternoon at Soule Park Golf Course for the 36-hole Western State Conference Championship tournament. Canyons carded a 369 in the first round, for second place and a 358 in the second round, good for first place. Despite coming in second place in the first round, COC still won the conference title with its 59-1 conference record, marking the program’s 19th WSC title. First-year golfer Sidney Wolf completed the regular season with the best stroke average in the conference with his 72.2 strokes per tournament. Canyons had five players who finished in the top-10 stroke averages, with the sixth player coming in 11th best. The Cougars now set their eyes on the Southern California Championship on May 6 at the Costa Mesa Country Club. The top two teams will advance to the state championship at Rancho Cañada Golf Club on May 13 to compete against the top-two teams from Northern California.

4-15-13 COC Men's Golf Team Refuses To Lose

GLENDALE, Calif. -
The COC men’s golf team carded a 365 on Monday afternoon at the Oakmont Country Club improving to a perfect 48-0 record in conference play. Canyons beat out second-place finisher Santa Barbara College by seven strokes and third-place finisher Glendale College by 20 strokes. Sydney Wolf and Jake Katz continue to lead the Cougars, as they posted scores of 70, which were the best scores of the tournament. Eric Kim tallied a score of 73, which was good for a third-place finish. The Cougars will travel to Soule Park Golf Course for the Western State Conference Finals on Monday, April 22.

4-8-13 COC Men's Golf Team Remains Perfect On The Season

SAN DIMAS, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men’s golf team carded a 369 on Monday afternoon at the San Dimas Country Club improving to a perfect 42-0 record in conference play. Canyons beat out second-place finisher Citrus College by 15 strokes. Sydney Wolf continues to lead the Cougars, as he shot a tournament best 70 and was the only player to shoot under par. Jake Katz turned in a 73, which was tied for the second best score of the day.  COC will travel to Glendale for a tournament on Monday, April 15 at Oakmont Country Club.

4-1-13 COC Remains Undefeated In Conference Play

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -
The COC men’s golf team carded a 367 on Monday afternoon at the Santa Maria Country Club improving to a perfect 36-0 record in conference play. Canyons beat out second-place Santa Barbara College by 11 strokes and third-place Glendale College by 12 strokes. The Cougars were led by Sydney Wolf who turned in a tournament-best 68, while teammate Travis Bergmon posted a 70 for the second best score of the tournament. Wolf and Bergmon were the only two golfers to shoot under par. COC will travel to Glendora for a tournament on Monday, April 8 at Glendora Country Club.

3-25-13 Men's Golf Wins Fifth Conference Tournament

The College of the Canyons men’s golf team won its fifth conference tournament by nine strokes over second-place Santa Barbara College, after carding a 358 at Soule Park Golf Course.  Sidney Wolf, Riley Hayfield both shot 68 to lead the tournament. Eric Kim tallied a 72 and Jake Katz turned in a 75. Canyons will return to action on Monday, April 1 at Saticoy Country Club.

2-25-13 Men's Golf Beats Field By 12 Strokes

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
The College of the men's golf team won its third conference tournament by 12 strokes over second-place Citrus College, after carding a 373 at the Rio Bravo Golf Course. The win improves the COC's record to 18-0. Two Cougars scored 73s, Sidney Wolf and Luke Kristo, to help lead the squad. Travis Bergmon turned in a 74 and Riley Hayfield tallied at 75. Canyons will return to action on Monday, March 11 at Glendora Country Club.

2-18-13 Cougars Win Second Conference Tournament

SOLVANG, Calif. -
The COC men's golf team carded a 372 on Monday afternoon at the Ranch Course at Alisal to win the team's second conference tournament. Canyons beat out second-place Santa Barbara by 13 strokes and third-place Ventura by 17. The Cougars were led by Eric Kim who turned in a tournament best 70 and was one-of-two players who posted and under par score. The other low score, came from COC's Luke Kristo who finished the afternoon with a 71. COC will return to action on Monday, Feb. 25, for another conference tournament in Bakersfield.

2-11-13 COC Men's Golf Wins First Conference Tournament Of The Season
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team won its first conference tournament of the season on Monday afternoon, as the Cougars carded a 376 at the Valencia Country Club. COC beat out second-place finisher Santa Barbara by 11 strokes and third-place finisher Glendale by 17 strokes. Sophomore Luke Kristo turned in a 1-under par 71 to lead the field and was the only golfer to shoot under par on the day. His freshmen teammate Sidney Wolf recorded a 1-over par 73 for the second-best COC score of the day. The Cougars will travel to Santa Barbara for a tournament on Monday, Feb. 18, at Alisal Ranch Golf Club.

1-30-13 Cougars Win First Tournament Of The Season

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team won its first tournament of the season on Monday afternoon as the Cougars carded a 742 (368-374) at the two-day Double Eagle Tournament in Bakersfield. The Cougars entered the second round with a eight stroke lead over second-place Reedley College, but increased the margin to 24 strokes after two rounds. Jake Katz led the field with a two-round score of 144 (71-73), beating out second-place finisher and COC teammate, Luke Kristo by two strokes. Canyons had five golfers finish in the top-10. The Cougars will host the first conference tournament on Monday, Feb. 11, at Valencia Country Club at 10 a.m.
