SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons women’s soccer team finished the season ranked No. 6 in the national rankings, according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Though the rankings have no bearing on regular and post-season play, the poll does deem a national champion at the end of the season - this year, Cerritos College was named the national champion.

The Cougars completed the season with an 18-1-4 record and earned the program’s fifth Western State Conference Championship and first since the 2004 season.

COC's post-season run was stopped short in the second round of the California Community College Athletic Associations Regional Playoffs, as the team fell to Ventura College, 1-0.

COC made its first appearance on the national poll under fourth-year head coach Justin Lundin. Canyons appeared as high as the No. 3 team in the nation in early November.
