New Student Advisement

New students who have completed the online orientation and assessment tests will receive a registration date from the Admissions & Records Office.  Before registering for classes, new students may want to meet with a counselor to learn how to select the right courses to meet their particular educational goals.

The new student advisement sessions are hands-on, practical workshops facilitated by a counselor. By the end of the two hour workshop, students will have:

  • Clarified educational goals
  • Practiced how to navigate the Schedule of Classes online
  • Learned how to balance classes and manage their time
  • Worked out a primary and alternative semester class schedule

In the hour following each advisement session, student Cougar Mentors from the Freshman Resource Center will invite you to:

  1. Meet faculty and get the inside story on their classes
  2. Take a tour of the campus and find out where classrooms and labs are located
  3. Learn about campus life and culture. Learn how to achieve, fit in, avoid common pitfalls and enjoy the college experience

To ensure your enrollment, use your Student ID # - which can be obtained from: What's my Student ID#?
