There are scholarships for
everyone. Many community organizations, foundations,
religious organizations and employers offer scholarships.
Scholarships are generally merit based on your academic
record, but are sometimes based upon demonstrated financial
need, or both. You may need to submit
applications, write letters and essays or be interviewed as
part of the scholarship application process, so start your
research early. You can apply for private scholarships
through your college years. Keep in mind that
qualifying for a scholarship doesn't guarantee you'll
receive one.
Student scholarship awards are
invested in the Golden State ScholarShare
Trust; California's college savings program until used
to pay for higher education.
