HOW TO BECOME
A SNAC MEMBER
Anyone (students, staff/faculty, or community
members) can apply for SNAC membership. However, only COC
students currently enrolled in > 6 units are eligible to
serve in an "officer" or "college assistant" position within SNAC.
Applicants are expected to…

Make a one semester commitment to working with SNAC.

Submit an
application form
to faculty advisor Sheri Barke in the Student Health Center.

(Recommended, but NOT required) Complete HLHSCI
149 – Nutrition for Fitness and Balanced Living or other
relevant Health Science, Kinesiology, or Psychology academic
courses.
Once selected, SNAC members will be committed to…
-
Attend a 2 hr. orientation about a week before
the start of the semester.

Attend up to two, 1-hour business meetings per month.
-
Complete a minimum of 4 hrs. per month of health promotion
activities.
-
Maintain a healthy balance between school, work, and SNAC
responsibilities and personal self care needs (for food, physical
activity, sleep, and fun).

Learn how to plan and implement health and wellness programs.

Develop leadership, communication, and team-working skills.

Earn service units for the Student Development Transcript Program.

Option to earn 1 academic unit through
CWEE and/or
apply for a paid College Assistant position with the Student
Health Center/SNAC.

Enhance resume and college transfer applications (especially if
you’re interested in a health or fitness career).

Receive mentorship and career guidance from experienced health
professionals.

Make a difference in the health and well-being of others.

Meet new students and have fun!
