SNAC Fitness Walks
Every semester, SNAC hosts educational fitness walks through the beautiful Gardens of the Canyons.  Participants visit 6 stations along the route, complete a short wellness activity at each station, and then receive a prize upon the walk's conclusion.  Participants walk at their own pace and can visit the 6 stations in any order, at any time during the designated time frame below.  All fitness walks are FREE and open to the public.   

Body Mind Wellness Fitness Walk (Spring 2012)
March is national nutrition month!  Get some physical activity while learning about whole grains, protein, energy drinks, alcohol and more!

  • Valencia Campus, Thursday, March 8th, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. 
    Visit main station between STCN and A buildings to pick up map and station worksheet.

  • Canyon Country Campus, Thursday, April 12th, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
    Visit main station at (Location TBD) to pick up map and station worksheet.

Positive Student Body Fitness Walk (Fall 2012)
October is national Fat Talk Free Week!  Get some physical activity while learning about how to promote positive body image!!!

 

SNAC Spring Body-Mind Wellness ("BMW") Seminar Series
Every Spring semester, SNAC hosts a series of Body Mind Wellness Seminars, featuring experts in the fields of nutrition, fitness, and meditation.  The goal is to provide education on lifestyle behaviors that promote health, happiness, and optimal performance in school, sport, work, and life!  These seminars are FREE and open to the public.  FLEX credit is available to COC faculty who attend.

  • Sports Nutrition Seminar - Friday, March 2nd, 10:00-11:00 a.m., BYKH 105
    Learn how to fuel your body for optimal exercise training, performance, & recovery!

  • Sustainable & Healthy Eating Seminar - Thursday, March 15th, 12:30-1:30 p.m., BYKH 105
    Get practical (and delicious!) tips on how to eat real wholesome foods.  Free food samples provided by Whole Foods Valencia.
    NOTE: Seminar will be followed by a brief tour of the planned site for COC's College Community Garden.

  • Meditation for Health & Happiness Panel Discussion - Thursday, March 22nd, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Meditation Garden (behind the tennis courts)  * In case of rain, this event will be moved indoors to EPEK Gym.
    Explore the science and practice of meditation for physical and emotional health, as well as school/work/sport performance.
    NOTE: Resource fair with local businesses offering meditation or stress management services will be 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

SNAC Business Meetings
SNAC members meet every other Friday, 9-10 a.m. for business/program planning purposes.  Anyone who is not an "official SNAC member," but who is interested in learning more about SNAC or in helping with SNAC activities, is welcome to attend SNAC meetings.
