TO FILE AND WHAT TO FILE
FOR 2006 WITH THE IRS
Section 1
Click on the statement that applies to

I was not in the
country at all during 2006

I was in the country for at least
1 day during 2006

Section 2
You do not have to file anything for
the year 2006. Relax and take it easy!
Section 3
Click on the statement that applies to
you:
I did not work in
the USA during 2006

I worked in the USA during 2006

Section 4
All you
have to file is form 8843. Due date for mailing is 6/15/2007.

I have been in full-time student
status in the US for more than 5 years

I have been in full-time student
status in the US for less than 5 yeas

Section 6
You may be
able to file your taxes as a resident alien if you have been in the
country for most part of 5 years.
There is no
need to fill out form 8843 if you have been in the country for 5
years or more.
Use form
1040EZ or 1040 to file.

Section 7
You will need to
submit form: 1040 NREZ or 1040NR depending on your deductions if you
worked during 2006 and need to pay your takes or get a refund if
taxes were withdrawn (box 2 on your W2 form) from your paycheck and
you made less than 3300.
