Editor's Preface
Welcome Our goal in bringing you the MC Newsletter this month is to share with you the latest happenings in the Club and at MESA. While there has been some delay in releasing the calendar, we have finally managed to snag a copy. We hope this helps keep you updated. October will be a busy month but if you're looking for volunteer hours for HITE then you've come to the right place. MESA will be having a Pancake Breakfast and any time you can donate will go to HITE hours. If you're looking for good food or a movie, this is the month to get involved. The MESA Club will be having a BBQ October 15, 2008 from 11:30-2:30. In addition, Wednesday, October 29, 2008 will be our movie night. We're having fried chicken, potato salad and more, so be sure to join us for IRON MAN. Showing will start at 7:30 pm. *** This month's club meeting will come with drinks and pizza so be sure to make the time to stop by. The meeting will be held at Allb–114 from 4 – 5 pm. Remember that your vote counts so if you want to visit a certain school next semester now is the time to join. *** The MESA Club at College of the Canyons is a student run organization for students interested in math, engineering, or any of the sciences. Our goal is to stimulate interest in scholastic achievement while enhancing personal understanding; we strive to fortify relations between the community and ourselves as much as with the competing love of our chosen major. The MESA Club is a great way to get involved and admission is completely free, open to all students with peaking interest in math or science. Perhaps the greatest reward of being a member is the chance for you to see your school up close. At the end of the semester will be visiting schools up North, so if you're interested in Berkley, Cal Poly or Davis, to mention a few, come to MESA at Allb-114 and join the club. |
BAJA members, we need to raise
a lot of money to get that
car running. Come join us for a taping of RITA ROCKS. It is a great way to
help the club and you get to watch a TV episode before it airs. The taping
is always held on Fridays; we meet at school at 3:00 pm so we can avoid
traffic but the show, if you're interested, won't begin until 4:30 pm. Let
us know if you can make it. We would love to have you come along.
Remember BAJA members must register with SAE, the charge is ten dollars but it gives you the opportunity to be an officially sanction member. As a member of SAE, you enjoy: -Complimentary admission to their SAE congress of choice* -Complimentary subscription to their SAE magazine of choice and -Year-round savings on most SAE publications, conferences, seminars and more! One of the main advantage's of being a member is the opportunities it offers those interested in engineering. Members enjoy: -SAE Section programs and networking events along with career development resources and Partner Programs. For further details, please visit www.sae.org/students We still need a driver for the next Race so it is very important you're a registered member. *** We're now in the process of building our second BAJA Racer; so if you're good with your hands or have a peaking interest in engineering, welding, or automotive, join us now. The upcoming race will be held in Oregon. This will be a club-sponsored event; food and rooms will be provided for but BAJA members must have participated in at least five fundraiser for the club to pay your fees. We want to win so the more money we can come up with the better BAJA Racer we can build. |
