Welcome
Week
As a means of welcoming new and continuing students to campus every
year, the Office of Student Development coordinates a calendar of
activities facilitated by college departments and programs. Free
food and entertainment are included among the activities and events
each year.
Student
Awards Ceremony
Each year, the Associated Student Government sponsors an awards
ceremony to recognize those students who have won scholarships and
provided service and leadership to the campus and the local
community. The scholarships presented are Community Scholarships,
Foundation Scholarships, HITE Scholarships, EOPS Scholarships, and
the Associated Student Government Scholarships. Beverages and hors
d'oeuvres are served before the ceremony. The ceremony is held in
the Main Dining Room of the Student Center in the evening, usually
on the first Thursday in May.
Honor
Graduate Reception
Each year, students graduating with honors (3.5 gpa or greater) are
recognized at a reception the day before graduation. At the
reception, these students receive honor cords that are worn during
the Commencement Ceremony. Each student is provided the opportunity
to invite two guests to the reception. A continental breakfast is
usually served.
