SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – College of the Canyons third baseman Trey Williams was the 211th pick in the seventh round of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft last Friday afternoon.
The freshman from Valencia High School improved his draft position from last year, when he was taken in the seventh round by the St. Louis Cardinals.
The second-team all-conference infielder turned in a .324 batting average and led the 2013 COC baseball squad with six home runs and 26 RBIs. His six home runs ranked him second in the Western State Conference, South Division, and his 56 total bases during the conference season ranks him in second place.
