Cougar Stadium
Originally built in 1969, Cougar
Stadium has seen drastic changes in the past 18 months.
Most recently, the natural grass surface was replaced with FieldTurf
synthetic grass. The replacement was finished in May of 2003.
By installing synthetic turf, COC hopes to achieve the following
goals:
· Increase the number of events that can be held on the
field
· Reduce field "down time" due to turf repair
and/or replacement
· Provide a consistent, high-quality playing field
· Reduce field expenses for water, fertilizer, plant
materials and maintenance
· Minimize injuries by providing a flat, even, consistent
surface that is neither too hard nor too soft, and provides
proper traction
· Accommodate a wide range of activities including contact
sports such as football and soccer
The field will also:
· Have a high degree of safety for all participants
· Stand up to constant usage for a minimum of 10-12 years
without significant deterioration
· Remain smooth and uniform with a minimum of maintenance
New competition areas for track and field events were also installed,
including for the high jump, pole vault, discus and shot put
events, among others. The track itself was resurfaced in December
of 2003.
Additionally, new banks of lights were installed, allowing for
greater lighting and visibility while simultaneously requiring
less wattage.
Current College of the Canyons teams using the stadium:

Men's Soccer
Women's Soccer

line.
The dimensions of Cougar Field are 330' to left, 395' to center
and 330' to right.

champion Lady Cougar softball team has their own field adjacent
to Cougar Field.
