Santa Clarita , CA- Marcel Marquez threw for four touchdowns and ran for another - breaking the school record for touchdown runs by a quarterback in a season (now at 8) - and Michael Carr, Joey La Rocque and Ameyne Williams ammassed 37 tackles as College of the Canyons beat the Bulldogs 42-24.
WSC Leading rushing Drew Williams was lost for the Bulldogs with a dislocated ankle early in the second quarter, but had only gained 4 yards on 8 carries. Anthony Melton stepped in and proved a capapble replacement, rushing for 126 yards and one touchdown, but Allan Hancock seemed unable to recover from the loss of Williams.
Down 7-0 early in the first, Marquez led the Cougars on three scoring drives, hitting Steve Silva on a 14-yard TD in the 1st, Terence Scott on a 52-yard TD in the second, then scored himself at the end of the first half from 20 yards out to give the Cougars a 21-7 lead at half. Silva would score again in the 4th quarter on a 19-yard TD pass, and Joey La Rocque took an interception 69 yards for the Cougars' final score.
Michael Carr led the defense with 15 tackles, 2 pass break-ups and a forced fumble. La Rocque had another huge game with 11 tackles, a sack and the interception returned for a touchdown, and Ameyne Williams also added 11 tackles.
The win gives College of the Canyons sole possesion of first place in the WSC North with 2 games left in the season.
