Cougars Send Seven To Four-Year Schools, More Signings To Come

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – On the first day of National Signing Day, seven College of the Canyons football players have signed letters of intent with their respective colleges. Headlining the still growing list is offensive lineman Kainoa LaCount and cornerback Chris Black who inked with the University of Hawaii.

LaCount, who will return to his home state of Hawaii, was a unanimous selection All-Western State Conference honoree. As an offensive lineman, the sophomore helped Canyons top the conference in scoring offense, total offense, fourth down conversions, red zone offense and first downs.

Sophomore defensive back Black, a Plantation, Fla., native, was seventh on the team in tackles with 35, 30 solo, while garnering four interceptions and 15 pass breakups.

The Cougars will continue to commit to four-year universities as they finish their educational requirements.
