Sophomore linebacker Justin Stevens intercepted Ventura quarterback Antavius Sim's pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown with 1:37 left in the game and the College of the Canyons football team defeated Ventura College 37-24 in its annual homecoming game.

After the College of the Canyons defense held Allan Hancock to a field goal on the first possession of overtime, Cougar quarterback Justin Arias hit wide receiver Rickeem Jackson in the end zone from the 11-yard line for the game-winning score, as College of the Canyon (5-2, 2-0) beat Allan Hancock (3-4, 0-2) 30-27 Saturday at Righetti High School.

College of the Canyons was held to just two touchdowns and a field goal as No. 8 Grossmont College dominated seventh-ranked College of the Canyons 36-18 on Saturday night, handing the Cougars the most lopsided loss of head coach Garett Tujague's four seasons at COC and the worst loss for the program since the 2006 season.

College of the Canyons football team looks to bounce back from a 35-7 loss to the defending national and state champion Mt. SAC. They look to refocus on Saturday night in their home opener as they host Citrus College in the third non-conference game of the season. College of the Canyons leads the all-time series 4-0-1 and last met with the Owls in 2006 when the Cougars beat Citrus at home 43-14.

College of the Canyons was held to four yards rushing and the defending national and state champion Mt. SAC football team defeated the Cougars 34-19 on Saturday afternoon in Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

Aaron Mitchell was either a late bloomer, or he simply went unnoticed. The 6-foot-1-inch cornerback never received the honors that most NFL draftees earn during their college years. In Mitchell’s two seasons at College of the Canyons, he was never even given an all-conference award.
