1978-1979
College of the Canyons makes a trip to the State Finals.
1984-1985
College of the Canyons wins the Mountain Valley Conference title and makes a trip to the State Finals.
1990-91
The Cougars win the Western State Conference championship.
1991-1992
The Cougars win the Western State Conference and make it to the final eight in the South. School record in wins and highest ranking, #5 in state.
1992-1993
The team finishes second in the Western State Conference and enters the playoffs for the third year in a row.
1999-2000
Thirty-one year veteran head coach Lee Smelser announces that he will retire at the end of the 1999-2000 season. Five Cougars sign with major universities and colleges for the 2000-2001 season.
2000-2001
Head Coach Howard Fisher enters his first season, after serving as assistant coach for eight seasons, and becomes the second coach in COC's history following the departure of Lee Smelser.

College of the Canyons wins the WSC South title for the second year in a row. Carlton Spencer is named MVP of the WSC South for the second year in a row and head coach Howard Fisher is named Coach of the Year. Ranked in the top 20.

The Cougars finish in third place in the Western State Conference with a 17-15 record overall, 7-5 in conference. COC earns a bid to the playoffs, but fall in the first round to Riverside, 83-69. Freshman Andre Murray, who led the team in scoring (20.0 ppg) earns first team All-WSC honors, along with sophomore Derrick Williams.

The Cougars have a great season after finishing with a 11-1 record in conference play and tying Bakersfield College for the conference championship. The Cougars made it two rounds into the playoffs with a victory against L.A. Trade Tech, 91-81, before falling to Compton, 72-86, and completing the season. Everett Bryson, Andre Murray and Dwayne Jones earned First-Team All-WSC accolades, while Jacob Briggs and Gino Riney were honored with honorable mention nods. Head coach Howard Fisher won WSC Co-Coach of the Year along with the Bakersfield head coach. Murray also was named to the All-State team.

The men’s basketball team struggled during the 2007-2008 season. The Cougars won 10 games in the campaign and were able to record victories in the final four games of the regular season, but did not advance to the postseason. Freshman Brian Kimble from Hart High was named First-Team All-WSC. Freshman Jason Holzwarth, Donjay Kakonde and Justin Smith each earned honorable mention.

The Cougar men’s basketball team had a tough season, finishing with an 11-19 overall record and a 4-8 record in conference. COC ended the season on a two-game winning streak and defeated the two teams by an average of 14.5 points. In COC’s final game of the year, the squad outscored the Glendale College Vaqueros 19-11 in the first overtime period for a 107-99 win. Sophomores Justin Smith and Jason Holzwarth were named First-Team All-Western State Conference and freshman Brannon Bradley and Terrez Scott earned honorable mention.

The men’s basketball team struggled in the 2009-10 season with a young squad. Despite having only two sophomores on the team, the freshmen acquired invaluable experience for next year. COC finished in fifth place with a 13-win season. Sophomores Brannon Bradley and Brian Kimble were named first-team all-conference, and freshman Parker Dominguez was an honorable mention.
