5-17-11 Cougar Golfers Finish Tied For Third In The State
HANFORD, Calif. -
College of the Canyons golfers Aaron West and Alex Macaluso tallied a 1-over par 145 (74-71) on Monday afternoon at the 36-hole state championships at the par-72, Kings Country Club. Both COC golfers earned All-State honors for their perfomances after finishing in a tie for third place. Macaluso birdied the Nos. 3, 4, 11 and 13 holes in the first round and added one more in the second round for nine birdies inthe 36-hole tournament. West carded seven birdies, including two on par-5 No. 3. Andrew Perez from College of the Desert took home individual medalist honors with a 6-under 138.

College of the Canyons men’s golfer Arron West was named the Western State Conference Player of the Year, while teammates Derek Larson, James Holley and Alex Macaluso earned all-conference honors, as announced by the conference late last month.

5-9-11 Men's Golf Season Ends At Southern California Championship
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team dropped to a tie for fifth place on Monday afternoon at the Southern California Championships, eliminating the team from moving on to the state championship next weekend at Kings Country Club. The Cougars will have two individuals - Aaron West and Alex Macaluso - who will compete as individuals at the state championship next Monday, May 16. The Cougars were in second place with a 383 after the first round of play and trailed first-place and host College of the Desert by four strokes. But, the Cougars would lose their ground and turned in a 397 in the second round of the afternoon to finish with a 780 and seven strokes out of the fourth and final spot for the state championship. West and Macalusco will compete in the state championship on Monday, May 16.

4-25-11 Cougars Close Out Conference Season With Championship
CHINO HILLS, Calif. -
College of the Canyons men's golf team won the program's 17th conference championship on Monday afternoon with a 36-hole score of 747--368-379 to lead second-place Glendale by 13 strokes. The Cougars finished the year with a 59-1 record and earned a spot in the Southern California Championships on May 9 at Bermuda Dunes Country Club. James Holley led all Cougars with 147 and was one of five players under par in the tournament. The top four teams in the Southern California Championships the top six individuals outside of those four top teams earned a spot in the State Championship on May 16 and Kings Country Club.

4-12-11 West Leads Cougars To 42-0 Record
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team recorded a 371 on Monday afternoon at the par-72 Rio Bravo Country Club, to improve to 42-0 in the conference. The Cougars beat out second-place Glendale College by seven strokes and and had two players who turned under par scores. COC's Aaron West took home individual medalist honors with a 2-under 70 and Alex Macalusco came in tied for second with a 71. COC will travel to its last regular season conference meet on Monday, April 18 at Oakmont Country Club.

4-4-11 Cougars Keep Rolling
FILMORE, Calif. -
College of the Canyons men's golf team continued its sweep through the Western State Conference on Monday afternoon, after carding a a 363 on the par-71 Elkins Ranch Golf Course. The Cougars, who have not lost a tournament yet, improved to 36-0 on the season. COC's Derek Larson and James Holley finished in a tie for third place with 71s and Tyler Schwanz turned in a 72 for fifth place. The Cougars will travel to Rio Bravo Country Club on Monday, April 11 for another conference tourney.

3-14-11 Canyons Wins Annual Tournament
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -
Canyons men's golf team turned in a 370 on Monday afternoon at the par-72 Valencia Country Club to win its annual Canyons Invitational. The Cougars beat second-place Bakersfield by 13 strokes, third-place Allan Hancock by 19 and fourth-place Santiago Canyon by 20. COC was led by three players who scored 73s - James Holley, Max Cohen and Tyler Schwanz. Derek Larson turned in a 75 and Alex Maculuso notched a 76. Canyons will play in its fifth conference tournament of the year on Monday, March 28.

3-7-11 COC Wins Fourth Conference Tournament
SANTA MARIA, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team posted a 380 on the par-72 Santa Maria Country Club Monday afternoon. Bakersfield came in a close second with a 382 and Allan Hancock finished three strokes behind the Cougars with a 383. James Holley shot a 1-over 73 to lead the Cougars to a 24-0 record, followed by Alex Maculuso and Derek Larson's 76s. Canyons will return back to the Santa Maria Country Club on Monday, March 14 for the annual Canyons Invitational.

2-28-11 Canyons Improves To 18-0 In Conference
LAS POSAS, Calif. -
College of the Canyons mens' golf team won its third conference tournament of the season with a 382 at the Saticoy Country Club on Monday afternoon. COC beat out second-place Glendale College by eight strokes, who were led by Max Cohen's 72 and Derek Larson's 76. COC will head to its fourth conference tournament at Santa Maria Country Club on Monday, March 7.

2-7-11 COC Open Conference Season With A Win
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team turned in a 370 on Monday afternoon at the Cougar hosted conference tournament at the par-72 Valencia Country Club, good for first place. COC beat second-place Bakersfield by 11 strokes and third-place Ventura by 18 shots. COC was led by Aaron West's 70 and Derek Larson's 71 as only two of four golfers who turned in scores under par. COC will return to action on Friday, Feb. 12 as they head to the Rio Hondo Invitational at California Country Club.

2-1-11 Cougars Open Season With Victory At Bakersfield Invitational
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
After a first-round score of 370 at the Seven Oaks and a three stroke lead over second-place Ventura, the College of the Canyons men's golf team turned the small advantage into a 19 stroke lead after tallying a 368 at Rio Bravo in the second round for a 738 two-day total. Ventura came in second at the 36-hole tournament with a 757 and Reedley finished in third with a 764. COC was led by Max Cohen and Alex Macaluso who both turned in 144 and took home individual medalist honors for their efforts. The Cougars will host the first conference tournament of the season on Monday, Feb. 7 at Valencia Country Club.
