5-7-12 Canyons Dominates Field at Southern California Championship

GLENDORA, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team finished the Southern California Championship on Monday afternoon, claiming its second Southern Califronia Championship in the program's 41st year. The Cougars turned in a second round of 359, to complete the par-72, 6,614-yard Glendora Country Club Course with a 2-over-par 722 (363-359). With the win, COC received the Southern California automatic bid into the State Championship, along with second-place finisher College of the Desert. Riley Hayfield and Aaron West led the team with a two-three finish after posting 36-hole totals of 2-under and 1-under, respectively. The two golfers were 2-of-3 players who finished the tournament under par. The Cougars will travel to the State Championship on Monday, May 14 at the Santa Maria Country Club.

5-1-12 Cougars Win Third Straight Conference Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
College of the Canyons men's golf team came in first place on Monday afternoon at the 36-hole Western State Conference Championships at the par-72, Alisal Ranch golf course. COC shot a 732 (366-366) and were led by Aaron West, who shot a 4-under par 140 (65-75) and finished in first place in the tournament. The Cougars finished the season with a 56-4 conference record and won’t their 18th conference championship. COC will now travel to the Southern California Championship on Monday, May 7 at Glendora Country Club.

4-11-12 Canyons Sets New School Record At Conference Tournament

SAN DIMAS, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team turned in a 15-under 345 at the 6,309-yards, par-72 San Dimas Golf Course to win another conference tournament on Wednesday afternoon, but more importantly, the Cougars broke the school record for a 18 holes with 15-under par. The Cougars set a school record last year at the same course with a 10-under, but this year's squad shattered the score by five strokes. COC improves to 34-2 with the victory and it marks the fourth time that the team has won a conference tournament this season. COC had four golfers finish with a under par score, including Tyler Shwanz, who earned individual medalist honors with a 67. Luke Kristo and Derek Larson came in a tie for second-place with a 68 and Riley Hayfield posted a 70. The Cougars will return to action on Monday, April 16 when they travel to Oakmont for another conference tournament.

3-26-12 Cougars Take Second At Glendora Invitational

GLENDORA, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team came in second place at Monday's Glendora Invitational after turning in a 369 at the par-72 Glendora Country Club. COC's Luke Kristo and Allan Hancock's Austin Kaiser took home medalist honors with 67s and Kristo was one of five scores under par. Canyons finished nine strokes behind second-place Glendale who tallied a 360. COC improves to 22-2 on the year. The Cougars will return to action on Monday, April 2 for another conference tournament at Saticoy Country Club.

2-27-12 COC Takes Tournament Title At Third Competition

BAKERSFIED, Calif. -
The College of the Canyons men's golf team turned in a 379 on Monday afternoon at the par-72 Rio Bravo Country Club to win the team's second conference tournament of the season. With the victory, COC improves to 17-1 on the season. COC was led by its No. 6 golfer, Luke Kristo, who turned in a 72, good for a tie for second place. The Cougars will return to action on March 5 for the two-day Monterey Tournament.

2-13-12 Cougars Take Second at Alisal Ranch Tournament

SOLVANG, Calif
. - The College of the Canyons men’s golf team carded a 395 on the Ranch Course at The Alisal par-73 course on Monday afternoon, finishing one stroke behind tournament winners Santa Barbara. Derek Larson was the only Cougar to finish in the top 10. Larson notched a 77 for seventh place and Luke Kristo shot a 78 for 11th place. The Cougars are now 11-1 on the season. COC will travel to the Santiago Canyon tournament Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Tustin Ranch.

2-6-12 COC Claims Victory At Conference Tournament

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -
The COC men's golf team carded a 375 on Monday afternoon at Valencia Country Club to win the team's first conference tournament of the season. COC's Travis Bregman and Jacob Galiezer turned in 72s on the course to take home individual medalists honors. COC led second-place Santa Barbara City College by 24 strokes and third-place Allan Hancock by 25 strokes. The Cougars improve to 6-0 on the season with the win. COC will travel to the Riverside Invitational on Monday, Feb. 13 at Victoria Country Club.

1-31-12 Cougars Win First Tournament Of The Season By 30 Strokes

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
The men's golf team won its first tournament of the season in Bakersfield as they beat second-place Santa Barbara by 30 strokes. Derek Larson won the tournament with a two-day total of 2-over-par 146 (73-73). COC also had 5 of the top 6 golfers, helping the Cougars notch the win. COC will host the first conference tournament of the season on Monday, Feb. 6 at Valencia CC.
