11-3-12 Cougars Complete Season At Southern California Championships
COSTA MESA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons men's and women's cross country teams had a strong finish to their season on Saturday afternoon as they ran in the Southern California Championships at Orange Coast College. The men's team finished in 23rd place with 613 points, while the women had three athletes finish the race as individuals. The male squad was led by sophomore Alex Ruther who turned in a 22:04.44, good for 84th place, and freshman Chase Wheeler who came in 88th with a time of 22:09.22. On the women's side, freshman freshman Jessica Gill rounded out the top 100 with a 98th-place finish in a time of 21:25.01, while sophomore Emily Hinde completed the race in 22:57.58 for 159th place.

VENTURA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons men's and women's cross country teams had a good showing at the Ventura Invite, the first meet of the season, following the lead of Alex Ruther and Emily Hinde. Ruther came in 11th place in the men's 4-mile run with a time of 23.47, to lead his group to a fifth-place finish. Hinde, a sophomore, ran a 24:20 on the women's 5K course. The Cougars will travel to the Fresno Invite on Saturday, Sept. 8.
