3-10-11 Two Cougars Named All-State

– College of the Canyons women's basketball players –  Kelli Lewis and Jazzmyn Davis – were named to the California Community College Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s All-State Team. Lewis, a sophomore guard, was named first-team all-state and freshman forward Davis earned third-team all-state honors.

3-2-11 Cougars Shock San Bernardino In Playoffs

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.
– The No. 7 College of the Canyons women's basketball three starting guards combined for 48 points and Canyons edged No. 2 San Bernardino Valley 69-67 in the third round of the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Basketball Regional Playoffs. The Cougars will now travel to No. 3 Mt. SAC (27-3) for the fourth round of the playoffs. The winner of the game will earn a spot in the state tournament at Ventura College on March 11-13.

2-25-11 Cougars Down Mt. San Jacinto With Strong Second Half Effort

– The No. 7 College of the Canyons women's basketball team outscored No. 10 Mt. San Jacinto15-6 down the stretch to help elevate Canyons over Mt. San Jacinto 88-73 in the second-round game of the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Basketball Regionals. The Cougars will now travel to No. 2 San Bernardino Valley (26-2) for the third round of the playoffs.

2-22-11 COC To Host Mt. San Jacinto In Second Round Of Regional Playoffs

– College of the Canyons women's basketball team earned a No. 7 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs and will host No. 10 Mt. San Jacinto on Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.

2-12-11 Davis Lifts Cougars Past Santa Monica

Freshman Jazzmyn Davis scored 18 points and pulled down 17 rebounds and the College of the Canyons women's basketball team beat Santa Monica 100-68. After a slow start to the game, COC only had a two-point lead, 16-14, at the halfway mark of the first half. But the Cougars responded with a 33-9 run to end the half and take a 32-point lead into halftime. It was more COC in the second half as Canyons went up by as many as 37 in the second half. Davis notched her 12th double-double of the season and Tinky Dahte had 21 points and seven rebounds for the Cougars. COC will host its final regular season home game of the year on Wednesday, Feb. 16 as they host Glendale at 7 p.m.

2-9-11 COC Loses Game To L.A. Valley

The College of the Canyons women's basketball teams 33-game win streak in Western State Conference games was broken on Wednesday night as the Cougars were defeated by L.A. Valley 68-64 on the road. Despite building up a 10-point lead in the first half of the game, the Monarchs closed the half with a 9-0 run to trail COC by one point, 31-30. Despite guard Kelli Lewis' 30 points and Tinky Dahte's 18, things got worse for COC as they dropped the game to Valley. COC will host Santa Monica on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m.

1-29-10 Cougars Demolish West L.A.

Freshman forward Jazzmyn Davis scored a game-high 14 points to lead the College of the Canyons women's basketball team (18-6, 7-0 WSC) to a 88-47 win over the West L.A. Wildcats (6-15, 1-6 WSC) on Saturday at the Cougar Cage. Freshman forward Destiny Melton scored 13 points and added eight rebounds off the bench, while freshman guard Tinky Dahte chipped in 10 points. Freshmen Erika Rivera and Jenny Lentz each had nine points apiece for the balanced Cougar scoring attack. The Cougars held West L.A. to 32.8 percent shooting (19-of-58) on the day, including just 25.8 percent (8-of-31) in the first half. COC will travel to Bakersfield on Saturday, Feb. 5 for a 7 p.m. game.

1-26-11 COC Takes First Place In The Conference With Win Over Citrus

In a game that would give College of the Canyons or Citrus College sole possession of first place in the Western State Conference South Division, all five COC starters scored in double figures to lead the Canyons women's basketball team to a 84-61 victory over Citrus. With the victory, Canyons improves to 17-6 (6-0 WSC) to clinch first place in the conference with half of the season behind them. The Cougars held the early advantage through the first 14 minutes, though Citrus knocked down the lead with a 10-2 run to bring the score within nine before the break. COC answered with a 14-4 scoring run over the next minute to take a 14-point lead into halftime. The Owls opened the second half with a 12-6 run over the opening 5:47 to cut the Cougars lead to eight points. Seven minutes later, COC found itself with a 20-point lead with 7:50 remaining and did not look back. Freshman forward Tinky Dahte led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds and sophomore guard Kelli Lewis turned in 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the 3-point line.

1-22-11 Canyons Tallies 127 Points In Win Against Glendale

College of the Canyons scored a season high 127 points for the second consecutive game where the Cougars have tallied 100+ points and COC beat Glendale 127-59. Sophomore Kelli Lewis dished out a career high 15 assists and added 19 points, while freshman Jazzmyn Davis scored a career high 30 points to lead COC to its fifth conference win. COC will host Citrus College, a team that is also 5-0 in conference, on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.

1-12-11 Cougars Win Conference Home Opener

After a slow start for College of the Canyons at the beginning of the game, COC was able to refocus and beat Bakersfield 83-79 to win by 43 points on Wednesday night. The Cougars came out sluggish in their first conference home game of the season and fell down by six points at the 15-minute mark. After that, Canyons went on a 36-12 run to end the half and took a 45-22 lead into the locker room. It was more Canyons in the second half as COC went up on the Renegades by 47 points, 78-31. Every Cougar on the roster saw playing time and was lead by Tinky Dahte and Jazzmyn Davis who reached poured in 19 points. Davis also notched a double-double with her 10 rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Kelli Lewis had 12 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes of work and Stella Carlson added seven points off the bench. The Cougars will travel to Santa Monica on Wednesday, Jan. 19 for another Western State Conference game. Tip off for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.

1-5-11 Lewis Breaks School Record In Conference Home Opener

Sophomore guard Kelli Lewis tallied nine 3-pointers on Wednesday night to break a school record and lead COC to its first conference win of the season against West L.A. 89-62. Lewis, who had 32 in the game, passes former Cougar Andrea Bobic who nailed eight 3-pointers in a 2008 game. Also adding to the scoring was Jazzmyn Davis with 11 points and 18 rebounds and Dominique Turner who turned in 11 points and 12 assists. The win improved the Cougars to 12-6 and 1-0 in conference play. The victory also marked the programs 26th consecutive conference win, dating back to the 2008 season. COC will host Bakersfield on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. for its conference home opener.

12-4-10 Cougars Hand Undefeated Moorpark Its First Loss Of The Season

College of the Canyons women's basketball team outlasted a late comeback from Moorpark College to hand the Raiders their first loss of the season 73-63. Moo park came as close as two points at the 7:51 mark, but a six points from Tinky Dahte in a span of two minutes helped seal the win for COC. Sophomore Kelli Lewis led four Cougars with double points, including 17 points for Lewis. Destiny Melton had 12 points off the bench in 18 minutes of work and Kalana Inemer notched eight rebounds. COC will now travel to the Irvine Valley Tournament where they will play Reedley on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m.

11-28-10 Cougars Knock Off Two Big Programs On Way To Becoming Tournament Champions

College of the Canyons played back-to-back games against the No. 1 team in the state, Mt. SAC, followed by a championship game against defending state champion Ventura College, and defeated both squads in rout to winning the Ventura College-Kiwanis Club Tournament of Champions. In the opening game, the Cougars were matched up with Laney. With double-doubles from Dominique Turner, 14 points and 10 assists, and Jazzmyn Davis, 16 points and 16 rebounds, the Cougars survived a second-half comeback by Laney to defeat the Eagles, 78-74. Canyons was up by a 25-point margin at one point before Laney mounted a charge to get within three with under a minute to play. Turner's free throw sealed the win for the Cougars. Kelli Lewis added 16 points in the victory. Next up for COC, was the No. 1 team in the state, Mt. SAC. Turner turned in 20 points and 10 assists, and College of the Canyons defeated the state's top-ranked team, Mt. SAC, 75-67. After falling behind at the half, 36-32, COC responded down the stretch with the help of Davis' 16 points and outscored the Mounties, 43-31 to win the semi-final contest. Following a emotional win over Mt. SAC, the Cougars defeated the defending state champion Ventura College 84-77 in overtime. The Cougars held a 22-point edge at one point but the Pirates shot 72 percent in the second half to tie the game in regulation, 73-73. Turner's seven points in the overtime period and some clutch foul shooting by her teammates, sparked the victory. Turner was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player and Jazzmyn Davis, who had 19 points, was selected to the all-tournament team.

11-7-10 COC Goes 3-2 At Mt. SAC Tip-Off

The Cougars bounced back from a 76-60 loss in the second round game against San Bernardino on Saturday night to finish in third place at the Mt. SAC Tip-Off. In the first game, Tinky Dahte's 19 points and Dominique Turner's 11 points and seven assists paced the Cougars in their opening game victory over Compton, 83-46. Freshmen Destiny Melton and Jazzmyn Davis had 11 rebounds each while Jenny Lentz chipped in 10 defensive rebounds. Against San Bernardino, the Cougars shot a miserable 31.3 percent from the field and were out-rebounded by a very physical San Bernardino Valley team as the Wolverines defeated COC in the tournament semi-finals, 76-60. The Cougars were led by Turner's 15 points. Lewis finished with 12, while Lentz came off the bench to chip in 11 points. In the third-place game of the tournament, five Cougars scored in double figures (Davis-15, Beverly Weaver-15, Turner-12, Dahte-10 and Melton-10) to lead Canyons to a 14-point victory over Riverside. Leading by as much as 20 in the second half, the Cougars cruised to their second victory of the season. Davis had her first career double-double by adding 12 rebounds to her 15 points. Turner was named to the All-Tournament team. COC will take some time off before traveling to Cypress College on Nov. 18.
