Cougar Women's Basketball Assistant Coaching Staff

Assistant Coach Harlan Perlman

Harlan Perlman begins his 19th season as Greg Herrick’s top assistant coach. Considered by many to be one of the hardest workers in the profession, Perlman’s responsibilities include recruiting, academic advisement and game preparation. He also works closely with the Lady Cougar post players. “Next to the performance of our great players, Coach Perlman has been as responsible for our continued success as anybody in our program,” said Herrick. “His contributions, which sometimes go unnoticed, are immeasurable.” Perlman previously coached at Hart High School, where he served as Boys’ Varsity Assistant and Head Junior Varsity Coach. His Indian JV team captured two Foothill League Championships in five seasons and compiled an impressive 64-28 record. He also spent one season as Varsity Coach at Venice High School. A native of Chicago, Perlman attended Covina High School. He earned a B.A. in History from UCLA in 1976 and completed his M.A. in Physical Education at Azusa Pacific University in 1997. Perlman also teaches at The Learning Post, an alternative high school in the William S. Hart Union High School District. In 2003, he was honored as “Teacher of the Year” at the school. Perlman and his wife, Kathleen, reside in Saugus.

Assistant Coach Linnae Barber

Linnae Barber returns to the COC women’s basketball staff for the third year following an outstanding prep and college playing career. Barber played at Chatsworth High School where she led the Chancellors to two winning seasons. Upon graduation, Barber came to College for the Canyons and averaged a double-double (points and rebounds) during her Cougar career. Her teams had a combined 49-13 record, captured a Western State Conference title in 2004 and reached the 2004 State “Elite Eight.” She was an All-WSC selection her sophomore year. She then earned a scholarship to Texas A&M Kingsville where she starred for two seasons for the Javelinas. Known for wearing outrageous socks to practice in her playing days, Barber will be responsible for player development and game day statistics. She is single and resides in Chatsworth.
