The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) announced Wednesday that the 2007 College of the Canyons state champion women’s golf team has been named the 2007-08 Pepsi Scholar Women’s Golf Team.

11-5-07 Cougars win Southern California Championship For Second Time In History Of The Program
SOLVANG, Calif.
- The College of the Canyons Cougar women's golf team won its second Southern California Championship on Monday afternoon after posting a two-day total of 601 at the 6,830 yard, par-72 River Course at the Alisal. Freshman Jenny Lee earned medalist honors with her first-place finish score of 145 (72-73).

COC lead WSC rival Santa Barbara City (617) by 16 strokes and third-place finisher Santiago Canyon (669) by 68. This is the Cougars second Southern California Championship. The last title was in 2001 when the Cougars went on to win the state championship.

Lee led second-place finisher and teammate Darlene Bognot by one shot who posted a 146, which included a first round score of 71. Bognot's 71 was the only under par round of the championship. Rounding out the COC scoring, which included five Cougars in the top 10, was Eleanna Tan (155), Ashley Windsor (159), Ashley Redmond (160) and Tessa Harp (166).

Canyons will travel to the state championship to meet with the top two finishers from the north, along with Santa Barbara, on Monday, Nov. 12 for the two-day tournament that wil be held and the Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno.

10-30-07 College of the Canyons Brings Home Fifth Conference Title Since 1999
SOLVANG, Calif.
– The College of the Canyons carded a 649 two-day total at the Western State Conference Championships on the 6,830 yard, par-72 River Course at the Alisal to finish 40 strokes behind first-place Santa Barbara City College, but still walked home with the conference title with a 37-3 record. This is the Cougars fifth conference title since the program began in 1999. The last WSC Championship was in 2004 when the Cougars were co-champions with Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara finished the regular season with a 35-5 record and won the last won the last WSC match and the conference tournament. SBCC’s Nataliee Todd walked away with the individual title after posting a 2-under-par 142 (71-71) for the only under par scores of the championship.

The Cougars were led by Jenny Lee who strung together a 77 in the first round and an 80 on the second day for a 157 two-day total and a third-place finish. Darlene Bognot and Tessa Harp turned in identical rounds of 164 (83-81) to complete the tournament in a tie for sixth place. Ashley Redmond came in ninth with 166 (83-83) and Eleanna Tan rounded out the scoring in 10th place after carding a 167 (83-84). All five women earned All-WSC honors for their efforts at the tournament.

The Cougars will travel to the SoCal Championships, which are being held at the same course on Nov. 5-6. Ashley Windsor will compete as an individual, as her scores were high enough at the conference meet to qualify her for the competition.

10-2-07 Cougars Finish In Fourth Place At Lady Otter Invitational, Jenny Lee Finishes Second Individually

SEASIDE, Calif. - The Cougars dropped two spots to fourth place after carding a 50-over-par 338 in the second round of the Lady Otter Invitational for a 665 (327-338) two-day total on the par-72, 5,815 yard Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Seaside, Calif. Chico State won the eighth annual tournament after leading COC by 12 strokes yesterday.

Malin Thornberg of  Cal Baptist walked away with medalist honors when she combined an even par first round with a 74 the second day for a 146 two-round total. COC’s Lee finished three strokes behind Thornberg with a two-day total of 149 (76-73) after posting the first rounds only eagle on a par-5, 500-yard hole. Ashley Redmond, who had tied for a tournament high five birdies, followed with a tie for 15th place (80-86--166), Darlene Bognot tied for 27th place (83-87--170) and Tessa Harp (88-96--184) and Eleanna Tan (92-92--184) completed the tournament in a tie for 60th place.

The College of the Canyons womens' golf team posted a 39-over-par 327 to trail first-place Chico State (27-over-par 315) by 12 strokes par-72, 5,815 yard Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Seaside, Calif. Freshman Jenny Lee leads the team with a 4-over 76 and is in a tie for third place after she posted the first rounds only eagle on the 500 yard, par-5 fifth hole. The Cougars lead third-place California Baptist (332) by five strokes and fourth-place Hawaii-Hilo by seven strokes.

8-27-07 - Cougars Post First Victory Of The Season
VENTURA, Calif.
-  The College of the Canyons women’s golf team posted a 24-over- par 308 to take a seven stroke lead over  second-place Santa Barbara City College (31-over-par 315) this past weekend at the par-71 Buenaventura Golf Course. Ashley Redmond led the Cougars with a 4-over 75. “Last season we struggled to beat Santa Barbara and in our first tournament we beat them by a sizable margin,” head coach Gary Peterson said. “After last season, the team said 'second no more,' and that is what they did. This was a huge confidence builder for the team and I am very happy for my players.” Following second-place Santa Barbara was Moorpark (401) in third and Glendale (479) in fourth place. Kristine Eaad of Santa Barbara took home individual medalist honors with a 3-over-par 74. Rounding out the Cougars was Darlene Bognot (77), Tessa Harp (78), Ashley Windsor (78) and Ericko Hirano (79). The team returns to play on Monday, September 10 in the second WSC tournament of the season in Santa Barbara.
