GLENDORA, Calif. – The women's soccer team continued to dominate on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Citrus College 3-2 in at Citrus Stadium to take sole possession of the Western State Conference, South Division title. This is COC's second title in as many years.
Canyons scored the first goal of the day when Sarah Sager scored a penalty kick in the 16th minute. The Owls stormed back though and got goals from freshman Jordyn Haynes in the 20th minute and sophomore Valerie Eyer in the 27th minute to go up 2-1.
The Owls would hang on to that lead until the second half, when Canyons picked up some much needed momentum after goalie Katherine Koury blocking a Citrus penalty kick in the 56th minute.
Shortly thereafter Sager scored again in the 59th minute to tie the game up. Four minutes later the Cougars had their lead back when Jessica Weber scored from 30 yards out unassisted in the 63rd minute.
The women's soccer team will play its final regular season match of the season on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Cougar Stadium.
