SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons women’s soccer team could not find the back of the net as it fell to No. 7 Ventura College, 1-0, in the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association Regional Playoffs at Cougar Stadium.

The loss marked the first of the season, as the Cougars finished the season with an 18-1-4 record.

Ventura scored in the 31st minute of the match after a free kick that was tipped in by Lupita Magana.

The Pirates kept the pressure on COC in the second half, despite the Cougars taking 15 second-half shots.

Ventura's goalie Katelyn White had nine saves in goal, while COC's Katherine Koury notched seven.

The Cougars posted 19 shots to Ventura's 13. Freshman Brittney Sayre and sophomore Casey Wesley both turned in four shots each.
