Head Coach Phil Marcellin

Phil Marcellin begins his 11th season at the helm of the women's soccer program. Marcellin has been the only coach for the women's soccer team since its inagural season in 1998. The Cougars have established themselves as one of the top programs in the Western State Conference under the direction of Marcellin, including four WSC South Division titles (1999, 2000, 2001, 2004) and a regional playoff finals appearance in 1999. Marcellin was also named WSC Southern Coach of the Year in 1999. He also is the head coach for the men's soccer team that began in 2003. Marcellin brings more than 15 years of coaching experience at the junior college level and has coached at the youth, club and high school levels since 1987. Before taking his post at College of the Canyons, Marcellin got his start at Bakersfield College where he spent five seasons as the head women's soccer coach and let the team to conference titles in 1994 and 1995, along with an appearance at the Final Four in 1994, and was named WSC Coach of the Year in 2004. Marcellin has also been a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America since 1997 and is currently the president elect for the California Community College Soccer Coaches Association and the Southern California regional president for men's soccer since 2004. Marcellin earned his bachelor's of science in physical education and his master's of education in physical education from the University of Toledo. Marcellin is married to wife, Michelle, and is the father of three.

 
     
Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach Fausto Arana

Fausto Arana begins his third year as assistant/goalkeeper coach for the men’s and women’s soccer team. Arana, who has more than 11 years of coaching experience, is responsible for training and developing the goalkeepers. Arana also is in his second year as the junior varsity head soccer coach at Hart High School. Prior to his position at College of the Canyons and Hart High School, he was a coach at Saugus High School since 1997. He also volunteers as a coach for players from the U12-U19 levels in region 46 and region 678. Also helped implement a training program for advanced players in region 678, have provided goalkeeper clinics and coach mentoring. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association, and presently is going back to school to pursue his degree. Arana and his family, Sue, Ben, Zach and Tomas, reside in Newhall.

Assistant Coach Justin Lundin

Justin Lundin begins his third year as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team at College of the Canyons. He is responsible for assisting in all coaching duties that pertain to training and game activities as well as off the field duties. Lundin also coaches at Hart High School and is in his second year. The Bakersfield native is a student at California State University, Northridge where he is finishing his bachelor’s in kinesiology. He resides in Northridge.

Assistant Coach Kelly Holloway

Kelly Holloway begins her first year as the assistant coach for the women's soccer team. She is also in her first year as the head coach for junior varsity women’s soccer team at West Ranch High School. Holloway spent two years as a player with College of the Canyons soccer from 2003-2005. Following her career at COC she transferred to Kansas Wesleyan University where she was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, two-time First-Team All-Conference, two-time First-Team All-Region, two-time NAIA All-American and the 2006 Mary Virginia Bevan Female Athlete of the Year. Earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2008. In her spare time she works at the Santa Clarita Soccer Center for the Little Kickers program. She resides in Newhall.
