You declared to DPSS/Gain that you are a
student (this self-declaration is referred to as a SIP component,
SIP means Self-Initiated Person or Self-Initiated Program;
You
declared to DPSS/Gain that you need to be in school in
order to meet your employment goals.
You may be receiving supportive services
from GAIN;
You may not be receiving supportive
services from GAIN.
You are
working; or will be working at school start (not including
those exempt)
The combination of class time and work
time adds up to a minimum of 32 hours per week;
You will complete your COC program
within 24 months;
If you are in compliance, you are
entitled to receive assistance with childcare, transportation,
books, school supplies and other ancillary services, licensing fees,
family counseling, mental health and drug/alcohol services and
other items need to carry out your approved activities;
If you are in compliance, you are
entitled to get money for these things in advance. You do not have
to buy them first and wait for reimbursement;
If you cannot do your Training Time
assignment (i.e. school and work) because the county will not pay
for a service you need, you have “good cause” to not
participate in the assignment. In this case it means that you should not have
your cash aid cut for not meeting your requirements;
If your county will not give you a
payment for a service you need (or an advance payment), you can
challenge this by asking for a “state fair hearing” by
following the instructions on the back of any notice of action.
You are working or doing community
service a minimum of 32 hours a week;
If you are in compliance, you are
entitled to receive assistance in childcare for another 24 months;
If you are in compliance, you are
entitled to receive Medical and food stamps for another 24 months;
If you cannot do your After Training
Time assignment (i.e. work or community service) because the
county will not pay for a service you need, you have a “good
cause” to not participate in the assignment. In this case
it means that your cash aid should not be cut for not meeting
your requirement.

You
attend the CalWORKs Orientation or watched the Orientation
Video;
Each semester you have filled out a
new CalWORKs Intake Form;
You keep the CalWORKs Office current of
any changes to your address, telephone number, pager number,
childcare provider, employer, class, lab and work schedules, etc.;
You have provided a
copy of your current class schedule;
You have provided a copy of your most
current cash aid Notice of Action;
You have provided a copy of your
Welfare-to-Work contract if available and/or applicable;
You provide the CalWORKs Office with
time sheets on a monthly basis which includes time spent in class,
in lab and at work;
You are attending all the workshops
scheduled by the CalWORKs office;
You have turned in a completed affidavit for not attending
CalWORKs workshops if you are unable to be there because of conflicting, class and/or
work schedules.
You have read the notices sent to you on a regular basis by
CalWORKs office staff. These notices contain the latest and
most important information unique to CalWORKs students.
