Exploring Careers with Discover - examine your interests,
abilities, and values - based on the information you provide about
yourself; research specific occupational career areas and much more.
Conducting a Successful Job Search
- what is involved in a
successful job search; strategies on listing and tracking your progress;
where to find jobs; networking; electronic resources; and how to fill
out an application.
Identifying Your Skills and Qualifications - learn to identify
your skills, identify skills employers are seeking, effectively
communicate your skills to employers and look for ways to further
develop your skills
Salary Negotiations: What are you Worth? - the importance of
negotiating; how to prepare effectively for the negotiating process;
alternate forms of compensation (benefits, vacation, etc.); dos and
donts of negotiating; responding to salary history requests from ads
and in person; how to answer difficult salary questions during the
interview.
How to Create an Effective Resume - learn the common mistakes
people make when constructing their resumes; different types of resumes
and which is best for you; advantages/disadvantages of different resume
types; references and cover letters.
