How to Conduct a Successful Job Search - what is involved in a successful job search; where to find jobs; strategies on listing and tracking your progress; networking; electronic resources; and how to fill out an application.

How to Explore Careers Using Discover - examine your interests, abilities, and values - based on the information you provide about yourself; research specific occupational career areas and much more.

How you spend your time while in college can make a big difference later on with your career.  COC’s Career Services encourages you to attend the “Monster College Advantage”, a dynamic and energetic presentation that will help you “own” your college experience and achieve the best possible result from your time here on campus - a degree/certificate and a great career. 
Topics include: The importance of a FAST START in and out of the classroom, A unique and powerful approach to time-management, how employers choose who to interview for internships and jobs, strategies employers use to decide who to hire. How to Create an Effective Resume - learn the common mistakes people make when constructing their resumes; different types of resumes and which is best for you; advantages/disadvantages of different resume types; references and cover letters.

How to Identify Your Skills and Qualifications - learn to identify your skills, identify skills employers are seeking, effectively communicate your skills to employers and look for ways to further develop your skills.

How to Prepare for an Interview - overview of common mistakes individuals make during interviews; how to prepare for the interview; sample interview questions; questions to ask; thank you letters; and much more.

How to Negotiate Salary - the importance of negotiating; how to prepare effectively for the negotiating process; alternate forms of compensation (benefits, vacation, etc.); do’s and don’ts of negotiating; responding to salary history requests from ads and in person; how to answer salary questions during the interview.

How to Survive On the Job - find out how to keep your new job by being aware of what could go wrong; understanding employer expectations; and identifying skills for success.

How to Build Your Professional Network Online - Learn the importance of networking to build strategic relationships, for a job search, and for professional development.  Both in-person and online methods will be discussed.
