David Nordstrom

Since graduating from the CalArts MFA Film Directing Program in 2005, David Nordstrom has been active filmmaker and teacher.  Working as an actor, writer, producer, editor, and occasional critic, he brings a broad and eclectic knowledge base to the classroom.

During the regular year, Nordstrom teaches filmmaking and digital editing at College of the Canyons.  Having once served as a youth counselor at a Wisconsin summer camp, he is excited to return to working with middle-school aged students at the Summer Institute.

Nordstrom's work has been featured in numerous film festivals both domestic and foreign.  In January, his short film "The Call" debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.  Most recently, he produced UCLA student Alex Jablonski's thesis film "Blue Boy" which premiered in April at the Tribeca Film Festival in Manhattan.

In 2005, along with filmmaker Mike Ott, Nordstrom formed the production company Small Form Films, where he has directed and edited music videos featured on MTV2, MTVU, VH1, and PitchforkTV.  At present, Small Form has scheduled three feature films for production in the coming year.
