First Login:
Blackboard uses a username and password authentication
model. If for some reason you forget your password, the only way to gain
access to your account is to have your password reset. The reset process
can take between 24 and 48 hours to complete. To avoid the need to use
this process, Blackboard provides a method of automatically emailing your account information
(username and password) to your email address. By default, Blackboard does
not know your email address and therefore you should provide this information as
soon as possible. In order to change your email address in Blackboard,
complete the following steps:
- Log in to the Blackboard system at:
http://bb.canyons.edu/
- Click "Personal Information" in the "Tools" section on the left side of the screen
- Click "Edit Personal Information"
- Change the "E-mail" field to reflect your current, existing email address.
- Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
- Click the "OK" button.
- Click the "OK" button on the "Personal Information" screen
Technical Support:
College of the Canyons provides technical support to
students via the TLC Lab. There hours are, Monday - Thursday 8:00 am -
8:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Email will be
replied to within 24 business hours. If students are having problems within your
course with assignments, tests, grades and the like, then the instructor is
responsible for assisting the student.

Things to Remember:

Your course is "unavailable" by default. This means
that nobody but you can login to the course. You must make the course
"available" before any students may login. You can find the course
availability option by:
- Open the course in question
- Click the "Control Panel" button
- Click the "Course Settings" item under the "Course Options" area
- Click the "Course Availability" item

Most students have trouble accessing the site because they
enter the wrong URL. People are accustomed to prefixing any web address
with "www". This site requires that you use the URL "http://bb.canyons.edu"
Course Roster Updates:
Course rosters are created and updated
automatically through a process external to you as the instructor. Generally,
your rosters will be populated once registration starts for that semester. The
rosters will then be updated at least twice a day the first two weeks of a
semester and once a day there after. If you have any students that need to be
added ASAP then please email the
blackboard
administrator with the section number of the class, first and last name of
the student and their student id number.
Student Assistant Account:
In order to facilitate the functions of a student assistant in your online
course, a special account has been setup for this purpose. You may, at
your discretion, provide this account information to your student assistant so
that they may perform the necessary functions inside of your Blackboard course.
Whether you choose to make use of this account or not you should login to this
account and change the password from the default.
The student assistant account has the ability to function as the instructor
of the course but is not listed in the roster as an instructor.

as a student and view your course with only the student options available to
you. The student test account will be enrolled in all of the courses that
you are teaching.
