College Charters New Honor Society Subject: A Chartering Ceremony and the Induction of new College of the Canyons members for the Gamma Beta Phi Society, a national collegiate honor and service organization. Time: 7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 Location: The Vital Express Center for the Performing Arts on the College of the Canyons campus. Background: Students invited to join the society are fulltime students who've accumulated at least 12 hours, hold at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA), and have a commitment to community service. Fifty-one students will be inducted into the inaugural COC chapter of Gamma Beta Phi.Students have launched right into 'service organization' activities by asking guests to bring a canned food item to the ceremony. The food drive will benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center meals programs.
