News Release Home FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 02-20-09 BottleJMc February 20, 2009 No Injuries Reported in 'Bottle Bomb' Incident No one was injured when two “bottle bombs” went off minutes apart on the College of the Canyons Valencia campus, one in a parking lot, and one in a roadway, at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009. One of the devices went off in the on-campus road near the college’s main entrance near the Performing Arts Center and minutes later, a second device went off in the college’s parking lot 15 adjacent to the Library. A witness reported to the Campus Safety Office that he saw one of the devices being thrown from a late-model maroon sedan with two, young male occupants. The vehicle immediately fled the campus. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded and is conducting an investigation. The campus community has been informed about the incident in order to make everyone aware of safety precautions they can take, particularly regarding these types of devices and to increase awareness of suspicious activities on campus so they can be immediately reported to authorities. |
