Drunk Driving Simulator at College of the Canyons
Subject: Awareness event with DUI simulator
Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 27
Place: Cafeteria, COC Student Center
Contact: Anne-Marie Bautista, Associated Student Government, (661) 362-3642
Event: The DUI simulator, more formally known as the PEERS AWARE III Simulation System™, is a new method of teaching students about the dangers of drinking under the influence by re-creating real road driving conditions in an actual vehicle.
Students behind the wheel drive onto a computer-controlled road simulator ramp and see computer-generated panoramic views with the aid of virtual-reality goggles. Generated by software that receives data from the wheels and pedals of the vehicle, the simulator can re-create typical everyday situations as well as the most extreme, such as driving while intoxicated.
This is a free event sponsored by College of the Canyons Associated Student Government.
