College Names Fiero Vice President for Human Resources

The College of the Canyons Board of Trustees approved Diane Fiero as its new vice president for human resources. The action came during a regular board meeting on Wednesday, July 14.

A Santa Clarita Valley resident, Fiero has been employed at Glendale Community College as employee services manager and human resources analyst for the last five years. She will report for work at College of the Canyons on Aug. 13.

Fiero’s husband is a science teacher at Rio Norte Junior High School. She is a California native, born in Oakland and raised in Huntington Beach. She holds a master’s degree in human resources design from Claremont Graduate University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She also earned a paralegal certificate in employee law and labor relations from the University of Houston.

“We are extremely happy that we have found a person with the experience and credentials that so closely match College of the Canyons' needs,” said Sue Bozman, dean of communications, marketing and external relations at the college. “Diane Fiero comes to us with a sterling record of achievement and with the energy and commitment to excel in our fast-paced and innovative environment.”

“I am very excited to be joining the College of the Canyons leadership team,” said Fiero. “Things are happening here. There is a natural excitement on this campus, and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”

The first thing that Fiero intends to do when she reports for work is to “acclimate to the culture” at COC. She said she looks forward to “building the long-term working relationships” with all of the various groups on campus and to “get to know my highly capable human resources staff.”
