College Offers Seniors Free Internet Skills Workshops
SANTA CLARITA Seniors looking to get a handle on the Internet and E-mail are encouraged to take part in free Tuesday afternoon workshops provided by the College of the Canyons Community Extension Department.
The hands-on sessions meet on three Tuesdays in October and will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in room R-210. Interested parties are encouraged to enroll now as available spaces fill quickly.
The workshop on Oct. 5 features an Introduction to the Internet and will help new users gain an understanding of the Internet, including using web browsers, viewing web pages and web sites, printing web pages and using the "favorites" list.
The session on Oct. 19 is entitled Beginning E-mail and walks students through the process of creating a free Yahoo! account, as well as covering the basics of sending and receiving messages.
The final workshop on Oct. 26 takes E-mail skills further, and will show students how to manipulate folders, use filters, organize an address book, and send and receive attachments.
