Cal State Fresno Joins University Center with Industrial Technology Program
Cal State Fresno has become the seventh partner in University Center at College of the Canyons, offering residents the opportunity to obtain a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology without leaving the Santa Clarita Valley. The program will begin with two classes in January.
The nationally accredited industrial technology program allows students to choose areas of specialization, such as management of CAD/CAM systems, industrial control systems, quality systems, transportation systems and networking systems, as well as prepare for a teaching credential in technology education.
Cal State Fresno will accept all California general-education degree and elective requirements from the computer electronics and computer networking programs at College of the Canyons. Students must apply to and be accepted by Cal State Fresno to enter the program. Online registration is available at: http://www.csumentor.edu
The classes to be offered in January are IT-137 International Quality Standards and IT-191T Telecommunications Systems I.
Additional information may be obtained from Cal State Fresno by contacting Tony Au, head of the Department of Industrial Technology, at (559) 278-2145, and from College of the Canyons by contacting Diana Watkins, head of the Computer Networking & Electronics Department, at (661) 362-3474, or Sam Phillips, liaison of regional programs, at (661) 362-3678.
Cal State Fresno joins six other universities and colleges that have signed on with University Center, which represents a unique partnership with other educational institutions to bring advanced-degree programs to the Santa Clarita Valley.
Also signed on are Cal State Northridge, Cal State Bakersfield, Chapman University, University of La Verne, Nova Southeastern University and ELS Language Centers. Chapman began classes in temporary quarters at the college in October.
Workers are now preparing the foundation for the interim University Center facility, which is located just south of the Technical Center. A permanent structure eventually will be built on the college property.
