Cougar Basketball Player Signs Letter of Intent with University of Houston
College of the Canyons sophomore guard Carlton Spencer has signed a national letter of intent with Division I, University of Houston.
Spencer (6-2, 180) joined College of the Canyons from West Jefferson High School in New Orleans, LA, and excelled for the Cougars, averaging 19.1 points, 5.7 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game. College of the Canyons finished the 2003-04 season with a 19-7 overall record and 10-2 conference mark to capture the team's first Western State Conference title in more than a decade.
"Houston has two seniors guards graduating after this season, so Carlton has an excellent opportunity to start right away," said College of the Canyon's Men's Basketball Head Coach Howard Fisher. "Houston has an up-tempo offense that should match Carlton's style of play very well."
Spencer was named First-Team All-Conference, Conference Most Valuable Player, and First-Team All-State last year, and will start again for College of the Canyons for the 2004-05 season.
