2005 Speaker Series Announced: Brokaw, Ditka and Motley Fool

Television news anchor Tom Brokaw, legendary sports figure Mike Ditka, and Tom and David Gardner, creators of the The Motley Fool finance website, form a trifecta of famous speakers for the College of the Canyons Speaker Series set to kick off in March 2005 in the Vital Express Center for the Performing Arts.

Brokaw, who is set to retire from NBC Nightly News after more than two decades as sole anchor, is scheduled to speak Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. In his performance, Brokaw entertains, enlightens and informs the audience with his experiences and observations on the current state of our nation and the world. His presentation, like his broadcasts, provides in-depth analysis of the important economic, political and social issues in the headlines - and the people behind them.

Leading off the Speaker Series on Wednesday, March 9, is ESPN NFL analyst and legendary NFL coach & player Mike Ditka. Ditka who in his first year in the NFL caught 56 passes for the Chicago Bears and earned Rookie of the Year honors, and eventually became one of only two athletes to ever win Super Bowls as a player, assistant coach and head coach now shares his drive and team-building skills with audiences across the country. In his presentation ACE Attitude, Character and Enthusiasm, he shares the lessons learned in a life of commitment and attention to the fundamentals and resulting victories.

Sandwiched between the two is the duo of Tom and David Gardner, creators of The Motley Fool website, which guides businesses and individuals through the complex world of entrepreneurship and finance. The Gardners will present "The 10 Things We Should've Learned About Money in School," on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m., which takes the audience through a list of investment possibilities from bad (credit-card debt and managed mutual funds) to good (individual stocks). Along the way, they lay out a full context for listeners to understand the financial world, and prepare them to make good investment choices with a clear view and with confidence.

Ticket prices and purchases for each of these events will be available the week of December 6 at www.VitalExpressCenter.com. Tickets for each individual performance will be available, and a 20% discount will apply if tickets for all three events are purchased.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, please call the College of the Canyons Foundation at (661) 362-3434.
