December 19, 2007 Children's Work Displayed in Art Gallery Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Full of imagination and joie de vivre, the artwork created by the children at the College of the Canyons Children's Center will be exhibited at the college's art gallery in the show, "Budding Artists: Selections from The Children's Center" from Jan. 5 to Jan. 19, 2008. "Our first children's exhibition was in 2002 and it has remained one of my favorite experiences with the gallery," said gallery director, Larry Hurst. "Artists spend their lives trying to return to the youthful enthusiasm and freedom that seems to come so easily when we're young. An exhibition like this can be both exhilarating and humbling." Hosted by the Circle of Friends, a reception will be held for the young artists on Jan. 5, 2008, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., and is open to the public. The art gallery is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
