SCV
Education Foundation
Read with Me!
The SCV Education
Foundation is seeking volunteers to work with students in local
elementary schools to improve their reading skills.
As a READ WITH ME! literacy volunteer, you will
work with students one-on-one or in small groups to assist with improving
reading skills such as word accuracy, fluency, and reading comprehension. You
may also be assisting with math, writing and other projects. With your
assistance students will improve their reading skills and greatly benefit from
receiving individualized attention. You will have the opportunity to impact a
child’s life.
Volunteers will receive guidance that includes suggestions on
reading with children and information regarding their school.
To receive more information about READ WITH ME!, contact Renee
Marshall at College of the Canyons
Renee.Marshall@canyons.edu
The SCV Education Foundation READ WITH ME! program is flexible,
but we would like to stress that consistency is very important
to the students we assist. We ask our volunteers to commit for
several months, one or two days a week for at least two hours a
day.
The READ WITH ME! program does not run every week.
