Roze
Room Hospice of the Valley offers five different volunteer
opportunities:
Patient/Family Volunteers
– Patient/Family Volunteers work directly with the patients and families
providing friendly visits, companionship and caregiver support. The
visit schedule is flexible and depends upon the volunteer and patient
availability. The Patient/Family Volunteer must be 18 years or older,
and requires 20 hours of instruction, a TB test, and a background
check.
Tuck-In Volunteers
– Tuck-In Volunteers call 4-5 patient/families as needed (daily, weekly)
to check in on their progress, order supplies and give a sense of
support to lone caregivers and families needing that extra assistance.
There are no patient visits, all contact is by phone. You are required
to e-mail your reports to the team leader and volunteer coordinator. The
Tuck-In Volunteer must be 18 years or older, and requires 20 hours of
instruction and a background check.
Compassionate Companions
– Compassionate Companions extend caring concern to the patients by
providing a reassuring presence at the bedside of a dying patient who
would otherwise be alone. The Compassionate Companion Volunteer must be
18 years or older, and requires 20 hours of instruction, a TB test, and
a background check.
Office Volunteer
– Office Volunteers assist in the office with mailings, photocopying,
collating and general office support. The Office Volunteer does require
some training and a background check.
Threshold Choir -
In groups of two to four, the choir will sing gentle songs from a
variety of traditions to sooth, comfort, uplift and bring peace to our
patients. The choir sings in private home or healthcare facilities.
The choir meets Tuesday of the month from 12:30-1:30 pm Singing
experience is not necessary, just and open heart and a feeling of being
drawn to this work. The Threshold Choir volunteer does require
training, TB test and a background check
All TB tests and background checks are provided free of
charge by Roze Room Hospice.
