The SCVEDC has been in existence since the summer of 2010; there is currently 31‐member Board of Directors, including a 15 member Executive Committee which meets monthly. The fulltime staff includes the President/CEO, Business Retention & Marketing Manager, Administrative Services/Special Events Manager and Business Attraction Manager (part time.

Student volunteers will be exposed to SCV community leaders when tasked with working at Special Events. Work may be sporadic, depending on activities/programs that are prioritized within the annual strategic planning documents.

Organization Description The goals of SCOPE are to conserve the environment and protect the quality of life in the SCV through public education and participation in civic activities. Focused attention is given to the Santa Clara River, our oak heritage, and five significant ecological areas as well as fighting for parks, schools, libraries, and other infrastructure needs.
 
Volunteer Opportunities SCOPE has service learning opportunities for students interested in environmental and conservation issues as they apply to the Santa Clarita Valley. Volunteers will learn about the Santa Clara River and other conservation efforts underway locally. Service projects will be designed around the student's environmental interests and address a local conservation issue or public review process. This service project will be of special interest to biology students, environmental science students, government, English and geography students as well as those that have an interest in the environment generally.

Organization Description The Education Foundation sponsors a number of annual events and programs to foster and support excellence in education for students of Santa Clarita Valley. The events include the Literacy & Arts Festival, Teacher Tribute and Principal for a Day. Current programs are Student Enrichment, Read With Me and Scholarships.
 
Volunteer Opportunities This semester our students will primarily work with the Read With Me! Program – students must commit to and be consistent – 1-2 hours/week they will visit the same local elementary school to read and work with students.
