The Chancellor's Circle is the College of the Canyons Foundation's most prestigious leadership support group. This group is comprised of prominent community leaders, local business executives, companies, successful alumni, and other individuals who are dedicated to the success of COC and its students.

Membership Changes Lives

Your contributions to the Chancellor's Circle allow the Foundation to support new projects with far-reaching implications.  The College of the Canyons Foundation and the Chancellor's Circle Committee work diligently to fund innovative programs, new unfunded projects, and initiatives that support student success.

With Your support, the Chancellor's Circle will work to achieve the following three goals:

  • Fund innovative programs that assist students in affording college and eliminating roadblocks to education.
  • Provide members unique access to professional development opportunities, faculty presentations, and special events.
  • Cultivate an integrated and diverse network of supporters where members can share innovative ideas and serve confidently as College of the Canyons ambassadors throughout the region.

Membership Makes a Difference

The Chancellor's Circle helps to fund innovative projects that support student success and respond quickly to the needs of the College.  While there are dozens of examples, here are a few areas of our campus that are funded by the Chancellor's Circle through COC's Foundation:

The Chancellor’s Circle Innovation Grant program is funded by the membership fees from the Chancellor’s Circle. These grants allow faculty and staff to design and deliver unique projects for their academic field of study and students—experiences that our students would not otherwise have. Since its inception, more than 210 Chancellor’s Circle $1,000 grants have been awarded to College of the Canyons faculty and staff members. Here are just a few projects funded by the program:

  • California Community Colleges' Civic Engagement Summit: The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE)'s annual California Community Colleges' Civic and Community Engagement Student Summit is an event that provides a venue where students can meet (virtually or in person) civic professionals, as well as discuss their Project-Based Learning (PBL) work addressing social change. The gathering also addresses varioius aspects of the COC Strategic Plan (2023-2026), including its Strategic Goal of Engagement, as well as its Guiding Principles that include PBL, and the importance of Making a Difference through civic and community engagement.
  • cul-de-sac Literary & Arts Magazine: Every Spring semester, English 122 students learn every aspect of literary production and assemble cul-de-sac, our literary and artistic journal that showcases artists and their creative works. The journal, which prides itself on welcoming a diverse range of styles and voices, is shared with students, staff, faculty, and community members at the semester-end in-person release party.
  • Fuel Up Station: The iCUE feeds high-quality fresh meals to students on campus, providing a stress and hunger relief opportunity at no cost to those attending.
  • MESA 3D Printing Skills Lab: The 3D Printing Skills Lab prepares students in understanding the use, theory, and application of 3D printers. Students are introduced to CAD and the design process behind engineering through the process of printing handheld spectrophotometers.
  • NASA HASP Gen 8: STEM students of all backgrounds are invited to participate in the development of an innovative experiment that competes with those made by university teams to earn a place aboard NASA's High Altitude Student Platform (HASP), a scientific balloon program that provides students with real engineering and space flight skills not attainable in the traditional classroom.
