Q. What is MEA?
A. The Media Entertainment Arts Department encompasses all of the disciplines related to designing, creating and producing content for use in various media platforms including film, broadcast, games, and online. Through the application of theory, students receive a hands-on approach to understanding and using various processes and methods relating to individual areas within the department.
Students have the opportunity to take a multi-disciplinary approach to their education, allowing for customization of the degree plans. By developing sequential classes and labs for media, entertainment, and design industrial arts, Media Entertainment Arts will link current industry skills and foundation Career and Technical Education standards to all aspects of study.
Q. Who is MEA for?
A. Students in the MEA department are creative, engaged and hard working. These are the talents needed to succeed in the entertainment industry. If you enjoy telling a story, if you yearn to understand, how movies are made, if you have a desire to illuminate world events then this is your home.
MEA students can take coursework in specialized areas of the entertainment industry such as animation, new media, broadcast journalism, filmmaking and sound design. All of the classes are hands-on, giving the students the opportunity to design, create and perform as a part of the students’ learning. Additionally, students can substitute and customize their degree to allow cross-discipline studies.
