2018 FALL SEMESTER

“Our House” by Theresa Rebeck
Theresa Rebeck, who created the NBC drama “Smash,” created this play, which examines the ever-thinning line between news and entertainment. A network executive shifts a popular news anchor to the host of a reality TV show. Meanwhile, drama unfolds between housemates in middle America: Someone ate Alice’s yogurt, and the rent is overdue. When these two worlds collide, “Our House” takes on a media-obsessed culture intent on turning even the most sobering crisis into sexy entertainment. Contains graphic language and adult subject matter.

“Measure for Measure” by William Shakespeare
Measure for Measure, once seen as a raucous comedy, now is viewed through a contemporary lens where hypocritical moralists are juxtaposed with bawdy humor. A duke abdicating his authority, archaic laws strictly imposed, a women’s stand against lechery, Shakespeare’s elegant arguments and timeless characters could have been ripped from today’s headlines.
Performances take place in the Performing Arts Center Black Box on
11/9, 11/10, 11/16, & 11/17 @ 8 PM
11/11 & 11/18 @ 2 PM

"Bright Star"
A powerful story of love and redemption set in the American South in the 1920s and the 1940s, Bright Star follows the story of a young writer (Billy) just home from war trying to sell a story to a powerful editor (Alice), and the story of Alice’s life 20 years ago as she faced life’s adversities. As Alice unwinds the mysteries from her own past, she confronts the secrets that hold her family and community together and keeps them apart.
