Yolanda Morton is owner and CEO of Morton Grinding Inc., dba Morton Manufacturing, the leading supplier of nickel-alloy bolts for gas turbine aircraft engines, utilized by companies worldwide.
Yolanda was born, raised and educated in the Philippines with a family of twelve siblings. As a working student, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting in 1968 from the University of Santo Tomas. After graduating, she worked at Petrophil accounting department until 1976. Afterwards she immigrated to the United States in search of the “American Dream.” She was hired as an accounting clerk by Morton Grinding Inc., where she met her late husband Wallace Morton.
As a strong minority woman in an industry dominated by the contrary, Yolanda has and continues to take Morton Manufacturing to new heights of success. In October 2012, Morton Manufacturing broke ground in Lancaster, California to construct its new headquarters and operations facility. This development is projected to bring hundreds of new jobs to the Antelope Valley.
Giving back to the community is very important to Yolanda. She appreciates and understands that much of her success is in large part due to the people and community who have provided her with the opportunity to succeed.
For the past 17 years, Yolanda and Morton Manufacturing have been strong supporters and passionate advocates of College of the Canyons. Her son Wallace Morton, Jr. and many of her nieces and nephews are alumni. Yolanda has been a Chancellor’s Circle Member for many years. The COC Foundation Golf Tournament has greatly benefited from her continued generosity. She has continued to support Silver Spur, college scholarships and many of our student programs. Most recently, she named the Chocolate Room in our new Institute for Culinary Education.
